Poetry Road Warriors and Young Gunz??
Road Warriors are not the road warriors from the past. It’s a different hustle this time around. It’s not a one way plane ticket to a state and hustle your way around. There aren’t any Road Warriors anymore, what we have now are hook up’s and you tube and my homies who put in the word. Financially, being a road warrior is rough. Too many poets think they can wake up and just head out and get paid. Only a hand full of poets can make Poetry and nothing else their fulltime job ( Talaam Acey, Lamar Hill, Carlos Andres Gomez, Queen Sheba just to name a few). But it takes Time, Talent and patients. Oh and scared money don’t make money. Gotta spend a little at first to get a lot. And building them friendships help. Florida to NY tour this first time was rough secondtime a breeze I slept on different couches for 3 weeks. Best experience ever.

Young Gunz aren’t doing anything different. They have better resources because some of the elders paved the way and vouched for them. I haven’t seen a Young Gun really bring anything different to the game. Writting is a lil different and a lot better than mine at their age.

The future is a continous cycle. Both the road warriors and young gunz will do that they’ll get younger and the cycle will continue.

i would love to see both models applied, seff generation on point with branding and the internet but i feel the original model made by the hills and aceys can work.how about doing both hit up your region while hitting the national market on the internet.if a promoter wants you tocome from the east to the south like the songbird said have a plan.meaing if youtube got the promoter booking you he must foot that bill and while your out there like hill said have connections to work.so your using the new model to brand yourself to get those gigs and the older model to go on a hum bug and connects to some sure things.

    • Speaking as an artist/promoter I don’t have the budget to “foot the bill” to get anyone from the West Coast to the East unless there some assurance I can make that money back plus make a profit. So the artist’s business and my business system has to be strong enough so that all parties get paid. We both need a new model
